About JH Gallery

JH Gallery is the retail brand of Jeevan Handicrafts, a Rajasthani handicraft maker from Merta City working since 2012. More than 500 artisans are linked with us, and together we have created over 5,000 designs: kathputli puppets, tealight holders, torans, crochet and festive decor. Every piece is stitched, painted and finished by hand, so small differences between two pieces are the mark of real handwork, not a defect.

Made by Rajasthani Hands

Our karigars cut, stitch, dress and finish every piece by hand, keeping Rajasthan’s traditional crafts alive in every home.

Are these really handmade?

Yes. Every doll is stitched, dressed and painted by hand by our karigars in Merta City, Rajasthan, so small variations between pieces are natural.

Where can I use them?

Pooja room, Diwali and Navratri decor, golu steps, wedding mandap, office desk, or as return gifts that carry a piece of Rajasthan.

How do I care for them?

Dust gently with a soft dry brush or cloth, keep away from water and damp, and store in the box between festivals.

WHAT YOU ACTUALLY GET – 5 MALE PUPPET DOLLS: This set is five standing male musician figures in turbans and mirrored jackets, each with a different instrument. Made of cloth over a wooden frame. CHECK THE SIZE BEFORE YOU BUY: each doll stands about 11 cm tall and the full set lines up across roughly 28 cm. These are small, shelf-sized dolls, not life-size puppets – photos are shot close up, so go by the centimetres, not the picture. Every stitch is done by hand.
WHERE PEOPLE KEEP THEM: On a mandir shelf, a TV unit or a study table. They are the rajasthani decorative items families use to fill a shelf that looks bare – small enough to sit in front of books or beside a photo frame, and light enough to move while dusting. Nothing has to be fixed to the wall and nothing needs a stand; they stand on their own on any flat surface.
READY FOR GOLU AND THE FESTIVAL STEPS: Navratri golu and kolu displays need figures that read clearly from a distance, and a row of five sets up one step or one shelf edge. The same pieces come out again for Dussehra, Diwali, a mandir corner at Ganesh Chaturthi, and for a wedding or sangeet table where a dulha dulhan style doll display is set up. Nothing on them is tied to one festival, so they are stored and reused every year.
GIFTS AND SOUVENIRS: This is what people pick up as return gifts for guests, a housewarming present or a Diwali hamper. It travels well – light, small and not fragile in the way a clay or a stone piece is – which is why it is also bought in numbers as a Rajasthani souvenir to carry abroad. It arrives in a protective box, so no extra wrapping is needed to hand it over.
HANDMADE IN MERTA CITY, RAJASTHAN BY JH GALLERY ARTISANS: Each piece is dressed, stitched and painted by hand, one figure at a time in our own karigar workshop, so faces, turbans and fabric prints differ slightly from one to the next – that is the mark of real handwork, not a fault. Care: dust with a dry soft cloth or a soft brush. Keep it out of water and direct sun so the fabric colours hold.
